ReplyDeleteNo, I don't think I have lost my taste. I have been lucky enough to have grown up around cooks how value simple and quality ingredients/recipes. I don't think I consume too much junk food. I only eat fast food when I have to. I definitely think that food philosophy could be considered an ethical act. People should think about how and where is it grown, if the workers are being well compensated, what the environmental impact of the farms are, etc.
2. Do you do anything in particular at home to avoid or rectify food waste? 173
One major thing that helps reduces my personal food waste is to not buy anything that I don't have a plan/recipe for. I find that if I buy food that I only have a vague idea about how or what I could cook it with it is more likely to go to waste. Also, I try to use all parts of the food even parts that some people discard. I save and freeze my veggie and meat scraps to make broths/stocks.
3. Have you begun deliberately to eat fewer processed substances and more plant-based alternatives? 175
Yes, often times I cook vegetarian/plant based meals. Mostly because it is more cost effective but also to reduce my meat consumption for health and environmental reasons.
2. The way I try to avoid food waste is to make sure I eat all of the food I am given, or selectively pick things I know I will eat in its entirety. If I don’t finish it one day, I’ll finish it the next day.
ReplyDelete7. I am kind of glad that several big products are decommodified, but I try to boycott a couple big brands such as coca cola, pepsi, and mcdonalds simply due to the fact they don’t value humanitarian values worldwide.
8. I recognize the value of insects but I don’t like certain ones in my house. My family uses pesticides to keep them out. I do also think that the education system should teach more about their importance though.
geta says we NEED drastic and immediate greenhouse gas emission reduction. She says the Paris agreement is the worlds biggest lie as it is full of what she call empty promises. Social justice, equality, and human rights are rarely discussed at the climate conference.
