Dear Dr.Phil,
ReplyDeleteI am pleased to find many interesting ideas in your blog. I am currently working on a paper "The Fourth State-Yoga: The Science of Man, Consciousness, Happiness and Immortality", intending to take it up as my PhD topic. But as I am not trained in Philosophy(GeoInformatics), am not making headway into converting my passion into an academic interest and approach.
As the paper is multidisciplinary, I am quite lost and would appreciate it if you can point me in any particular direction.
Thank You.
Warm Regards from Ethiopia

Hello Ravee, it's very nice to hear from Ethiopia.
ReplyDeleteThe only direction I know to suggest is forward, a step at a time!
But if you're looking for philosophical discussions of happiness I'd begin with Bertrand Russell's "Conquest of Happiness," and then just about anything by William James. My own "William James's Springs of Delight" attempted to distill some of his happiness wisdom.
Good luck!
