Representative Ocasio-Cortez introduced the Green New Deal Resolution to recognize the scale of the climate crisis and provide a roadmap to evaluate policies that can protect our planet and uplift our communities.
It is for this reason that Representative Ocasio-Cortez introduced House Resolution 109, 'Recognizing the Duty of the Federal Government to Create a Green New Deal.' The Green New Deal Resolution outlines the framework for a comprehensive and ambitious plan to combat climate change by creating millions of high-wage jobs in new green industries, transition our energy system and building new infrastructure. It consists of five Green New Deal goals, fourteen mobilization projects, and fifteen guiding principles.
The Green New Deal Resolution is about more than just solar panels and wind turbines, it establishes the foundation for a successful and sustainable 21st century economy.

I think most could agree that many of the reforms proposed by Representative Ocasio-Cortez are necessary, I think there is valid discussion to be had about the appropriate agencies for achieving the proposed goals. To be fair, the Green New Deal is still in the form of a resolution, thus there are no policy nuts and bolts currently baked into the bill. Resolutions are fine and dandy, I will be curious to see what steps the Federal Government will take pursuant to the proposed goals. At the moment, the Green New Deal looks more like a political banner for parties to rally behind than a practical plan for addressing climate change.
