Ending forever chemicals?

A new filtration material could provide a nature-based solution to water contamination by PFAS, or "forever chemicals." Based on natural silk and cellulose, the material can remove a wide variety of these chemicals as well as heavy metals.

  1. This article brings me joy. Using nature to combat chemicals, and nature is seeming to produce results positive results of victory is amazing. As stated, usually more chemicals precede more chemicals and the the positive feedback loop never ends. If this concept became viable in the major water systems, we could be solving a very big problem and doing so in a way which gives hope to the environmental crisis we are currently facing. I love this concept and way to go MIT!
