ReplyDeleteI agree with this statement wholeheartedly. Kids are taught at a very young age of the circle of life, and how all these events and systems in nature are interconnected and interdependent of one another. Look at the example of Yellowstone when they reintegrated the wolf population to stable out the excessive deer population. The deer leveled out, the wolf population grew, but more importantly, Yellowstone became a healthier park with more vegetation and other animals returning. Everything in our world is connected and there truly only is an us, not an it.

ReplyDeleteI do not think all wildlife tourism should be discouraged. I think programs that have negative practices that can potentially harm animals or environments should definitely be discouraged. However, I think their are forms of wildlife tourism that should be kept up for educational purposes. People need to be educated and informed about the many different beings we have on this earth, and to observe some in their natural habitat. I think there are ways this can be done very safely and with no harm to people or the beings who are being observed.

ReplyDeleteI actually do not recall very much conversation at all about the potential environmental impacts that the expansion of the southern border wall could cause. I myself, did not even think about that much. In my defense this was back in 2016, and I was a slightly less informed 8th grader back then, lol. However, I think that in modern society, especially within politicians, there is not enough talk about the environmental impacts of projects and policies that get passed. there are 100% politician's out there who fight and raise awareness for the environment and the impact of what the government is doing, but definitely not enough. I think a lot of blind eye is played with politicians, where they know something could cause a harm, but they o not care either because of money or they care more about the bill or policy than the environment.
