Trump Can't Stop the Energy Revolution

After the unexpected upset Trump pulled recently, looking for positive news is more of a matter of survival than recreation. This article preaches a very important message: not all is lost- renewable energies are coming and they're coming fast.

I'll try to avoid being preachy and making too many broad statements; however, it's important to lay out an assumption about Trump's platform so it can be discussed: he promised the return of diminished industries and definitely singled out and supported coal.

As we learned from Atmosphere of Hope, the use of coal for the production of electricity is the highest contributor to global pollution. It's very easy to be alarmed at Trump's position. The only person who could actively support the proliferation of an industry like that is a person that believes, in the face of all evidence and 97% of climate experts, that global warming is a hoax.

Thankfully, it may not matter at all what form of energy the current president prefers. Renewables are on the rise, and the growth is projected to overtake other popular forms of harmful energy. Coal is already going to be threatened by natural gas in the very near future, with wind and other renewables right on its tail. Flannery mentioned that a reduction in CO2 does not equate to economic recession, and I'm confident that the future may show us the exact opposite- our adoption of renewable energy sources (and the implicit innovation in techniques) will part the clouds and let us see the light of a better economic and environmental future. It's just hard not to get wrapped up in the overcast right now.
